GrafTech HR Is Rotary Club Speaker

      John Gentry, GrafTech Corporate Human Resources, was the guest speaker at the June 13, 2008 meeting of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club.   Gentry gave the club an overview of the GrafTech's, formerly known as UCAR and Union Carbide, Refractories Systems Manufacturing Facility in Lawrenceburg and GrafTech International. 

    Gentry said that eighty percent of the Lawrenceburg facility's business is manufacturing blast furnaces for ironmaking, and the remainder is the manfacture of Submerged Arc Furnaces.  The majority of the Lawrenceburg plant's product is sold to China.  In 2007, the Lawrenceburg plant has $50 million in sales and employed 76 employees.  The Lawrenceburg facility was built in 1956-57 and consists of 583 acres and  four buildings.
